Welcome to HI-Phoenix The Metcalf House!
"THIS HOSTEL REMINDS YOU WHAT BACKPACKING IS ALL ABOUT" -- Lonely Planet 2011
Located in downtown Phoenix, we are 3 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor airport and 4 miles from the greyhound station both are accessible by public transport and light-rail.
The hostel is walking distance to Downtown Phoenix, Phoenix Convention Centre, Diamond Backs-Chase Field, Phoenix Suns-US Airways Center , museums, shops and supermarkets.
We are the only "Desert Hostel" within the Hosteling International organization. Our front and back yard areas, planted with desert cactus, aloes and shrubs that thrive in the arid desert climate offer a respite from the rush of the city and the wear of the road. We offer a free breakfast, free street parking, kitchen and laundry facilities, and WIFI. We like communal meals, good conversation, artists, musicians, and great travel stories.
You have easy access by public transport to the Heard Native American Museum, the Desert Botanical Gardens, Phoenix Public Library, the Phoenix Art Museum, or hike through parts of the Sonoran desert in Papago Park.
In the Greater Phoenix area you can hike Camelback Mountain and South Mountain Park, or visit the fantastic Musical Instrument Museum and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West.
Arizona is one of the great outdoor states year round: Attractions include The Grand Canyon, Sedona, The Saguaro National Park , Monument Valley, Skiing in Winter, Native American Culture and Reservations
