About Ohio

Ohio's central location makes it a great getaway from the East or West coasts, and a great stop on any cross-country trip.
Highlights include the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which offers beautiful hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trails. The nearby Boston Mills Ski Resort and Brandywine Ski Area are among the few ski resorts in Ohio. Many prefer to tour the artsy Peninsula village and its surrounding area via the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, which snakes through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the historic Ohio and Erie Canalway, built in the early 1820s to connect Lake Erie and the Atlantic Ocean to the Ohio River, Mississippi River, and Gulf of Mexico, which opened up U.S. trade, transportation, and commerce opportunities. Close by is the Blossom Music Center, summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra, and popular venue for high-profile concerts. Speaking of music, Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located approximately 30 miles from Peninsula. Dedicated to artists, producers, and other influential individuals in the music industry, the museum documents the entire history of rock and roll.
The Malabar Farm State Park - Lucas hostel is located in rural northeast Ohio, adjacent to the Malabar Farm State Park. Built in 1939, the still-working farm and estate is open to the public and dedicated to perpetuating Bromfield’s then-innovative scientific farming concepts. Guided tours of the estate and farm are available, as well as camping, 12 miles of trails, bluegill and catfish fishing in the farm ponds, an 1820s restored restaurant, and the Malabar Farm Market, open Memorial Day weekend through October. The nearby town of Mansfield is home to the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, a 2.4 mile course known for its world-class racing competitions. Get your adrenaline pumping with high-performance driving technique and motorcycle courses at the track’s Mid-Ohio School.
