Houston, America’s fourth largest city, now has a Hostelling International hostel to call its own. Travelers from around the world are experiencing Texas-sized hospitality and camaraderie with fellow hostellers at the newly opened HI-Houston, Morty Rich Hostel, thanks to the generosity of hundreds of contributors. You can still join this generous group.

Housed in a gracious historic home on a tree-lined boulevard, the HI-Houston hostel can host up to 55 guests in shared dorms and private rooms. The Montrose neighborhood is ideal for a hostel. Within walking distance are affordable restaurants, coffee houses and clubs where hostel guests can enjoy Houston night life.. Close to public transportation, downtown and the museum district, everyone will find fun things to do in Houston. Did we mention that there’s a swimming pool?! Also, a lovely tree-shaded backyard with perfect outdoor spaces for socializing and making new friends. This hostel is ideal in every way!

The hostel is named for Morty Rich, a native Houstonian, avid traveler, and hostelling activist. Morty passed away prematurely and left a bequest to develop a hostel in Houston. Now, with the help of many other contributors, Morty’s dream has become a reality. Your help is needed to put the finishing touches on this beautiful new hostel.
